About Artist
Obi Michael (b. 2002) is a contemporary visual artist based in Lekki, Lagos. With a formal foundation from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and specialized technical mentorship under Edosa Oguigo and Orlu’ Ozangeobuoma, his practice explores the psychological landscapes of contemporary human life. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, he utilizes neon-infused palettes and traditional metaphors to explore the psychological friction of modern identity. Through his practice, Michael transforms the complexities of contemporary life into visual narratives of resilience, hope, and love. Michael’s work has been featured in recent exhibitions and residencies, including Pop Central’s Afrobeats to the World Residency (2025), Artist Commune(one art gallery,2025), and the Beyond the Fragment Exhibition(derasoarsart gallery 2025). His pieces are currently held in private collections across Nigeria and the United States.Tell your story.
